It is recognized as a highly potential tourism
zone & described as highly scenic corridor for river
cruises through densely forested hill ranges, wildlife areas
& agricultural landscapes. The total stretch of the
Godavari below Dawaleswaram Ayakat is 100 kms, of the which
68 kms of Visista & 20 kms of Vynatryam have tremendous
scope for houseboats cruise.
A floating jetty costing Rs.10.5 lakh was installed
at Rajahmundry before the Godavari Pushkaram. The Russian
Zaria with capacity to seat 80 persons has now modernised
for the Pleasure Cruises on the River Godavari.

A 50 seat capacity Chitrangi boat has been added to
water fleet facility at Rajahmundry for local river cruises.
The vessel was acquired at a cost of Rs.12 Lakh. The water
fleet strength has risen from 40 in 1999 to 87 in 2003.The
revenue generated by the water fleet has been Rs.280 Lakhs
during the yr. 2002-03.

Corporation is working out
plans for introducing water sports on different water bodies
of the State meeting the expectations of the youth & the
adventurous tourist.
Godavari Pushkarams is
celebrated once every 12 years at Pushkara Tirtham, near Rajahmundry.
The legend has it that when sage Gautama was doing penance
on the Brahmagiri Hill a severe famine occurred in the village
the people of this famine. Since then these Pushkarams are
being celebrated to commemorate the end of this serious famine.
During the 12 days of pushkaram, Pujas are performed after
taking a dip in the river Godavari.
