| Durgam Cheruvu, popularly known as 'Secret Lake' was constructed during the Qutub Shahi period to supply water to the Golconda Fort. The lake and its surroundings have got a facelift with Andhra Pradesh Tourism creating a number of facilities here, enhancing the ambience. Hidden from the world by an imposing ancient granite rock shield of boulders and hillocks, Durgam Cheruvu is considered to be one of the unique attractions of Hyderabad. Spread over 63 acres, the rock formation surrounding the lake, has been aesthetically illuminated, with quaint waterfalls, an interesting rock garden, and a beautiful floating fountain. Comfortable seating arrangements, a 2km walkway, a green belt and a coffee shop under a huge rock on the eastern side of the lake add an elegant touch to a harsh landscape. Durgam Cheruvu is embedded within towering boulders glowing purposefully with artificial incandescence.
